An Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority report found "overwhelming evidence" one of Liam Byrne's staff worked on his 2021 campaign while contracted and paid by Parliament. MPs cannot use taxpayer-funded allowances for political campaigns.
MP calls for Parliament probe of rate 'rigging' evidence // Parliament has been urged to investigate "damning evidence" that it may have been misled by the Bank of England over interest rate rigging. Senior Conservative backbencher David Davis said new evidence cast doubt on statements to Parliament by its former deputy governor. In a House of Commons debate he called for a renewed parliamentary inquiry into the scandal.
Netflix expands password sharing crackdown to UK // Netflix has started its long-promised crackdown on password sharing in major markets including the UK and the US. A Netflix subscription in the UK can cost anything between £4.99 to £15.99 per month. The streaming giant said it was notifying customers that they must pay an additional £4.99 per month, or $7.99 in the US, if they want to share their account outside their homes. The move is intended to boost subscribers.
Tina Turner: Music legend dies at 83 // Singer Tina Turner, whose soul classics and pop hits like The Best and What's Love Got to Do With It made her a superstar, has died at the age of 83. Turner had suffered a number of health issues in recent years including cancer, a stroke and kidney failure. Dubbed the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, Tina Turner was famed for her raunchy and energetic stage performances and husky, powerful vocals. Her death was announced on her official Instagram page.

In a statement, he said: "I understand ITV has decided the current situation can't go on." His departure comes after reports claimed relations between him and co-host Holly Willoughby had come under strain in recent weeks.

Leicester Tigers apologises after police called to bar // Leicester Tigers has apologised after police were called to a large gathering at a bar that included some of the Premiership rugby club's players. Leicestershire Police said officers were called to a report of damage being caused inside premises in New Walk, Leicester, at 23:56 BST on 15 May. Police arrived to find smashed glass and spilt liquid but no injuries were reported. The rugby club said it had apologised to the bar.

The rate at which grocery prices rose slowed marginally in the year to April, but at 19.1% is close to record highs. It comes as the overall UK inflation rate fell sharply to hit single figures for the first time since last August.
