Happy Friday Sense-ibles,
This is a short update on some of the things happening at Common Sense over the last two weeks and a quick rundown of some of the content we have been producing recently.
It’s been a very busy time here at Common Sense, but do have a read of some of the things were have been up to.
Many thanks,
M.T. Omoniyi
1 You are closer to being homeless than you think
For the last five years’ core homelessness has been rising year on year in England, reaching a peak just before the pandemic when the number of homeless households jumped from 207,600 to 227,000. Why is this and how can we address it? Mike sat down with Billy Chip to talk about homelessness

2)Workshops in schools
Some of the Common Sense team spent the day at The Victory Academy School delivering workshops on Fake News and Media Literacy to 90 Year 8 students! It was absolutely amazing.
We helped them understand the difference between
Fact and Fiction
Spotting fake news
Spotting biased writing
Avoiding echo chambers and more
Did you know that According to Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in 2018 "Young people in England have some of the lowest media literacy levels in the developed world."
This means young people are in danger from fake news and manipulation online. They are more susceptible to radicalisation and extremism.
This is why we are committed to working with young people to bring them out of echo chambers. If you are connected to a school or know a group of young people that would benefit from this program then do let us know
